RE: Album | from SpankOct 17 2002 - 20:40

When that one song that blows comes on, somehow the psychology of it dictates that your favorite songs on that album sound so much better.

I think some people do it for a reason.

RE: Album | from scoobidooOct 14 2002 - 08:49

Ok Ryan,

RE: Album | from RyanOct 12 2002 - 23:34

Scoobidoo, I meant "you guys need to learn how to rock" in a friendly way, not in a "you are harboring weapons of mass destruction and must be destroyed" kind of way.
I like "Dreams" by Sebadoh too.

RE: Album | from pyotrOct 11 2002 - 07:55

Sebadoh: Bakesale
song: "Dreams"

This album blew my mind, still does. This song just blows.

RE: Album | from DiplodicusOct 11 2002 - 03:41

I love to rock but electioneering is shite.
Case closed.

RE: Album | from ScoobidooOct 11 2002 - 02:26

Well Ryan, I see you're as diplomatic as Georges Bush...

RE: Album | from herrelOct 10 2002 - 17:12

anyway righty-o, you're talking balls about electric renaissance, it's a stunning track, one of the albums highlights

"hand in hand with the electronic renaissance is the way to go yeah"

do you reckon that instrument at the end is a cheap casio keyboard bagpipe instrument and b&s are poking a wry finger at their national heritage ?

RE: Album | from herrelOct 10 2002 - 17:07

whichever crosby stills and nash album has got graham nashes lady of the fucking island,

compare "holding you close undisturbed before a fire" with crosbys "peacocks wandered aimlessly underneath an orange tree"

he pisses me off graham nash, though he does harmonise nicely

RE: Album | from tharpeOct 05 2002 - 20:42

that horrible disco track in the middle of an otherwise great record. longpigs - "mobilehomes"

RE: Album | from RyanOct 05 2002 - 17:55

hmmm...I relate to the idea behind this thread, but "The Queen is Dead," "Electioneering" and "Fool's Gold" are three of my favorite tracks off the respective albums. You guys need to learn how to rock.

RE: Album | from Seth HowardOct 03 2002 - 19:28

Has anyone heard Tom Verlaine's first solo record with "Yonki Time" on it? I can't really take anything on that album seriously after that.

The U.S. version of The Stone Roses with "Fools Gold" at the end annoys the hell out of me.

RE: Album | from farmcafeOct 03 2002 - 11:34

catherine wheel

album: "Adam & Eve"

the song: "goodbye"

that album is just amazing, but i always find myself pressing skip when it comes to that song. it's not a horrible song, it just doesn't fit. plus it makes an already long album 5 1/2 minutes longer.

RE: Album | from christianOct 02 2002 - 11:33

another one of mine is "heartbeat" from Chairs Missing by WIRE. they are probably my favoritest band ever but this song is junk. the rest of C.M. is perfect.

i am dumb | from m_plasterSep 19 2002 - 19:35

my bad. you are right, it's Mother's Talk. Working hour is good. Mother's Talk, bad. Now "The Seeds of Love," there is a

RE: Album | from j william hallSep 19 2002 - 06:24

Craziness. This past weekend, on a drive from Columbus to Detroit, my wife and I (also showing my age) brought "Songs from the Big Chair" along for the ride (amongst other albums). We listened, drove, sang along... her commentary on the album? "This album is actually really good, except for that 'Mother's Talk' song." Coinkydink?

RE: Album | from cSep 19 2002 - 05:05

isn't that "mother's talk"? i love that album too but hate that song.

RE: Album | from m_plasterSep 18 2002 - 20:38

okay. im probably showing my age here.. but F it. i grew up in the '80's and was raised during hte verge of the original New Wave thing.. and still, they remain an absolute favorite of mine.. anyhow....
"The Working Hour," track 2 on Tears for Fears' "Songs from the Big Chair." an album full of moody melody, super-fantastic syrupy hooks. but this one damn songs just constipates me when i hear it. i'm sure we've all heard it.... "blahblahblahblahblah-blah change in the weaTHER... we can -- we can WORK IT OUT!!!"
maybe it's the stupid video with Roland sittin gon his bed in his underwear reading a newspaper with this big black glasses on.. i dunno. anyhow. i still love Tears for Fears, despite this abomination.

oh yeah, scoobidoo i TOTALLY agree with the "Queen is Dead." seriously, i dont think i EVER listened to that song as part of the album. as far as i'm concerned the album starts with "Frankly Mr. Shankly"

RE: Album | from Rob sSep 18 2002 - 07:13

Oh.. I get it. Totally agree Deano.

RE: Album | from mustafaSep 18 2002 - 06:26

Why?

I was pleading...

RE: Album | from DeanoSep 18 2002 - 01:59

I believe that was in "why?" that song not "why?" do you ask!!
Great idea for a string.
My choice is OK Computer: "electioneering". Bloody awful and the rest is sublime.

RE: Album | from Rob sSep 17 2002 - 15:11

Right-O.
Fair enough. Just wanna shoot the breeze... sure.
I never really liked the last song off "Alas" until about 3 weeks ago. .... (I bought it when it came out). Tell you the truth, I was actually disappointed with the whole album on first and second listen. Now it's one of my faves!! How crazy is that?

RE: Album | from cliche spouterSep 17 2002 - 10:08

RE: Album | from christianSep 17 2002 - 09:33

revolution 9 is actually my favorite track on the white album. my parents would blast it on the stereo when i was a young child and it mangled my brain for life. but i still love it.

RE: Album | from scoobidooSep 17 2002 - 09:27

The Smiths / The queen is dead

the eponym song, can't support it, but the rest is just amazing

and also revolution 9 by you know who...

RE: Album | from Righty-OSep 17 2002 - 08:48

Rob s,

what am i getting at? i don't know..what are people getting at when they post a topic like 'best album ever'?

RE: Album | from christianSep 17 2002 - 08:45

shudder to think - the album pony express record - the songs "own me" and "so into you" - they seriously mar an otherwise peerless mindf**k of an album.

RE: Album | from Rob sSep 17 2002 - 07:26

Just one song off "Yoshimi"?!!!!.. I reckon there's a couple more that ain't so hot. What are you getting at? Every album has at least one bad (not so great, at least) song.

RE: Album | from mustafaSep 17 2002 - 06:57

The Flaming Lips, Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots, the song Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots, Pt. 2.

Why?

anomolies | from Righty-OSep 16 2002 - 13:17

So here's the idea, albums that are great, even genius, except for that one song. That song you can't stand. That song that makes you plead "why?" I'll start...Belle and Sebastian, Tigermilk, the song Electric Renaissance (I think that's what it's called.)
