Yep: garage is a seedy little old style everything painted black venue: Good size crowds and usually great sound. Upstairs is like a little coctail lounge. It's easy peasy to find, just across the road from the station and last time I went there it was painted purple!!

I lived in London in 1995 and I played a gig at the garage... I totally forgot about it. Pretty good venue too. I think I sucked though.

yeah, the garage is on Highbury corner north of town. Nearest tube is Highbury and Islington, and there's a mainline station nearby. Quite easy to get to; follow the repressed football fans...
