Oops, sorry, thought you meant the bar I worked at in Chicago. Sorry 'bout that jabberjaw-n-alex.

Yes Jabberjaw, that's the one...
Very small but some of the coolest bands played there.

Oh no jess, it was actually Chicago at a bar called Robys (kind of like the old Lounge Ax in a way). Great shows, but mismanaged beyond proportion, causing everyone behind the bar to infiltrate money from the register, and thus causing it to close.

I think you might be talking about Jabberjaw (hole in the wall on Pico)...from 92-94 they booked the finest shows in all the land. Backyard and cats that rocked. Bit too sweaty, though.

She lives here in Chicago now. She used to hang out in this bar that I used to do sound in, when she just moved here. I got a chance to chat with her once before a show, shes pretty nice, very intricate person.

I bought strand back when it came out and enjoyed it very much. I was even fortunate enough to see the Spinanes perform live in an intimate little hole in the wall club on Pico(I forget the name) in L.A. After the show I managed to get her attention long enough to tell her how beautifulher music is. I can't wait to see Idaho live again..

I just am comparing the beauty of Idaho to a great band that many of you have heard of...The Spinanes.

Amazing at the minimalist mentality that Rebecca Gates has applied to her writing phisique. If you havent heard the album Strand, its a must-listen. Draped with overtones of love lost from a sensitive womans viewpoint, Rebecca streams her flowing voice to project her words into whispery chants. Quite soothing the whole concophony can be. Its from '95, but so timeless that anyone can understand.

I really think that music is an emotional outlet for the greats (whether discovered or obscure), usually that music is timeless as opposed to trendy, and not enough of real emotional projections show up on the consumer level, sad as it is to believe.

I guess I tried to start something new, so I guess if you want, let us know what bands have that time-enduring quality with real emotions that I D A H O and the Spinanes seem to relay.
