Allen; Take a pill.

I guess Adam has a good point, its not like you can have an infinite quantity of albums built on the same sound; not while remaining innovative anyways. I just hope the people from Idaho are not getting too happy, as I really like the dark moody sound plus I would hate to see them jumping for joy while singing show-tunes.

RE: Idaho's direction | from De MiloOct 30 2001 - 01:21

Must admit, I'm with Allen on this one but read the interviews and see where Jeff and Johns heads were when they were making YAY?? Would rather they were happy boys! Every album has little gems on it to and I'm really looking forward to rec Levitate after reading the comments on these notice boards! Got tickets to see Bonnie prince Billie on Saturday yeaaaaaah!

i've been an idaho fan for years now, ever since hearing "skyscrape."

saw the band the other night at cbgb's in nyc. hadn't heard any of the new material yet.

yeah, jeff was spending more time at the keyboards. but i totally failed to take note of that until reading this message board.

i guess it never really made much of a difference to me. and i'm a guitar player!

idaho and its music remain nothing but quality. it's good to see the band evolving, and continuing to get out and play!

Why compare something beautiful to anything but itself? "Levitate" is one of the best records I've heard in a long, long time. Thank you for making it.

RE: Idaho's direction | from adamOct 29 2001 - 08:31

I think that the bands evolution has been a
natural and beautiful one. Why make the same
record over and over again?

RE: Idaho's direction | from eric alan arnoldOct 29 2001 - 06:04

Of the full band rock stuff that Idaho has released in the past I prefer the heaviness of the of the "Year After Year" stuff, but "Levitate" invokes a lot of those type of feelings with just vocals and piano.

"Levitate" has made it's way as my 2nd favorite Idaho record after "Year After Year".

Allen, are you serious?
What is not pensive about new IDAHO? I think "Levitate" is a far better album than "YAY" (a great album too). It's not like they've become a happy hits band or anything..... the songs are still dark and sad. Each their own.

Does anyone else miss the dark pensive sounds that were overwhelmingly present in Idaho's earlier works?(ie Year After Year). Is this is a conscious transition by the band?
