I like emo not at all.
Idaho music Message boardI like emo not at all.
in my opinion, duster is one of the greatest bands around.simply put..
Hello. I have known Duster ever since they came out in San Jose, CA back in 95. Before this time, one of the members was in the famous Mohinder crew and later became the infamous CALM. The other is now in the band A-Set. They a cool group of kids who decided to experiment with Emo and Pop and thus became Duster. They have played many exciting shows and put out some of the most excellent recordings. If you would like to purchase a copy of their live show on Radio Station 103.3 KSCU, please contact me and be sure to visit my website. Thanks for reading me.
Butterglory was from Kansas I believe, so I'm not sure if there is any connection with Duster. Yes, I hear that the Donner Party back catalog has been re-released too. I'm really not a big Quasi fan though, so I'll probably skip it. I've heard of Sugarboom before, but I'm not sure where.
Right on the money, Dan! Yes,
Quasi is the remnants of Donner
Party. I'm gonna catch both them
and Modest Mouse up here in Seattle
at Bumbershoot this coming weekend.
And, yes, both Donner Party LPs
have be re-released on CD and I
understand it's supposed to be
pretty cheap. I'm not sure about
the remnants of Duster, though.
Isn't quasi some remnants from the
Donner Party (Sam)? The two Donner
Party records were pretty amazing
to me as a 20-something year old.
I just heard from people at pitch-a-tent
records that both Donner Party records
were re-released by some european
conglomerate of sorts.
Speaking of cool bands we played
with, there was this great band from
Portland called Sugarboom. Am I
thoroughly confusing things, or was
Duster the remains of Butterglory?
I just remember playing Bottom of the
Hill with the remains of Butterglory
and liking it very very much.
As my good friend c. bedford often
repeats, 'my memory is just a memory'.
They just released a new record called "Contemporary Movement". It's pretty good but not spectacular. Maybe their earlier stuff is better.
Duster is a kinda' space rock band
from Seattle and they're on Up
Records (same label as Modest
Mouse, and some Built to Spill,
etc.). Half the time their website
is down, but you can download some
Duster songs at www.uprecords.com
. I think some of the songs are
only so-so, but others are really
great. Be sure to listen to the
two bands mentioned above and to
Quasi (from Portland), too. All 3
of those bands are amazing. Enjoy!
i dont know anything about the band duster...i remember playing with them. it was not melissa on keyboards and vocals. that was christy schnabel.....she sings some backing vocals on upcoming record
By the way, the subject meant that my name's also Dan. I just didn't want to be confused with Sr. Seta.
About a year ago or so you all played a show up in SF with a band called Duster. Any idea what's up with them? Their first record was pretty good... lots of spacial stuff, and much of it on a 4-track.
Also, if memory serves, Melissa Auf Der Maur played keyboards with you all that show... am I right about that one?
Back in college, I interviewed Jeff and he was way accomodating (even after I left a drunk message on his machine one night when trying to schedule the interview.) Thanks for all that, Sr. Martin.
