There are some really good posts in some of the other threads about the feedback stuff. It comes from a lot of things in conjunction, the custom four strings, lots of distortion pedals, tape delay and a volume pedal. Just experiment. You will come up with cool things.

Ah... Jeff, I've got a couple questions about recording techniques, that maybe you could advise me on.

The first one is about recording vocals. Okay so I dabble in some home recording. Now, my tendency is to sing quieter regardless of the intensity of the song. It's what I consider the handicap of home recording. Singing over a live guitar will usually bring a louder more energetic performance. And so I guess I'm asking you this because 'Jump Up's' vocals on the record is softer –more hypnotic, while live it was, well, a lot louder. So do you have any tips on how to get a 'Hearts of Palm' and 'Fuel' vocal performance while multitracking at home?

The second question is maybe a trade secret, but I'll venture to ask anyway. The wailing feedback, and ambient stuff. Can you point me in some kind direction for that wonderful stuff?
