Idaho music Message boardThanks a ton for these questions my friends!!! Really appreciate it!! I'll let everyone know when the short film is release :)
Jeff, Did you and Doug Smith Have a band name, and if so, did you shop a "demo" for your material around and or did you and John do the same earlier?
Were these two distinct bands? and why didn't you press any of this material? I find it hard to believe you didn't press any of this stuff . . . . .
Question for Jeff: Given your long history and being co-founders of IDAHO, why is it you and John Berry have never collaborated on any new material since Year After Year?
Question for John: Fanboy gear porn question -- What was your gear and set-up during your tenure in the band (guitars, effects, amps)?
Question for Jeffrey:
Paralyzed was recorded in london back in 83'-84' , have you (Talk about the sound) been closed to the first TEARS FOR FEARS (aera the HURTING) record in mind when you've done the Track ?
Question for John:
A lot of songs from the album are closed to the sound of YEAR AFTER YEAR (Talk about the Darkness and the feeling of IDAHO), Are you surprised about the reaction of the people who though that it could have be a record before the first IDAHO's Record?
Thats for these my friends!!! This is going to be a cool short film....looking at Feb release
Were there any overdubs or vocals recorded to prepare for the release of Broadcast, or are these tracks exactly as you recorded them in the 80s?
Thanks for putting this out there. It's a fascinating glimpse into the musical evolution of Idaho.
Jeff why are you making another video when you should be planning a US tour? #kiddingnotkidding :)
Did you really travel back in time to England in the 1980s to record this record? How?
I was wondering of any of these songs had ever been submitted to any labels for release at the time they were recorded, and if so, what happened. Also wondering if Jeff, John and/or Doug has any particular favorites among this collection.
Hi Jeff
My humble question is: considering that Broadcast is an album of recordings made when you were very young, how do you relate to those songs nowadays? Has your point of view towards music and life changed altogether or do you still see yourself on those compostions?
Thanks!
Hi Jeff, another question:
Most of the Broadcast Pieces are so beautiful that i wonder why you didn't add any of these to Year After Year first album...these pieces are very representative of Idaho sound, passion and power indeed...how did it come you never realesed these before?
Hi Jeff, the Broadcast is a fantastic album, i would like to view a video about the concept of the song "67 down" and/or "Dah Aji"...to better understand these masterpieces. Love Idaho Music
Hi Jeff,
How did you fund these recordings at the time, and what happened to them betwen then and now?
Thanks Damien!!! Really appreciate it my friend:)
Hi Jeff,
could you tell us what were your main influences at that time? Your sources of inspiration? Thank you. Great abum anyway. Very interesting to hear these songs : the origins of Idaho.
Take care.
See you !
These will be answered in a cool short film that will concentrate on the music I made with John Berry, Doug Smith and myself between '83 and '89:) Thanks a ton for your questions and don't hold back!!! Put us ion the spot, nothing is off limits:):)
