Keiv!!! That's an encouraging story there :) If I can figure out who to direct the request too maybe IDAHO can pull of the same thing Haha!!!

Casey McPherson of Alpha Rev was able to get back his music from his label (Disney/Hollywood Records) after his fans called and faxed and emailed the fuck out of Michael Eisner until he gave in. That's the only time I've heard of an artist having success at that without paying out the ass.
Another fan sounding off for reissues of God's Green Earth, This Way Out and Three Sheets to The Wind. Tell the suits to name their price. We'll Kickstarter the crap out of it.
Thanks -K
Agree with everyone below! Hearts of Palm & Levitate are definitely musts to be pressed!
I also have a personal connection with The Lone Gunman... I think it'd sound brilliant on wax.
Here's my wish list for 2017 and just beyond, in no particular order, of those existing releases legally and technically available (Idaho Music, Buzz Records, hi-res dig files, master tapes)
1) We Were Young And Needed The Money (2xLP gatefold)
2) Alas (LP)
3) Forbidden EP (old school 45 rpm 12" EP)
4) Hearts Of Palm (LP)
Hello and happy new year! Wanted to throw my hat in the ring for any and all available albums to be pressed to vinyl - I would purchase in a heartbeat. Also looking forward to the new album!
Another Idaho admirer jumping in to push for vinyl releases of the back catalog. Please Jeff, make this happen.
That is great to hear for the people wishing to hear Alas on Vinyl at least, so that's good to hear. As well as new music, of course.
And I appreciate your offer to help Brian!! I actually own the Buzz Records albums so there's no problem there. After this next one is out I'll seriously consider vinyl releases of my old stuff
I wish that was the case Chris....I know for a fact Caroline or whoever the patron company is now own that music forever:(
I make records myself, surely after the period covered in the original deal the rights revert to you? Most artists deals are 10/15 years......have you looked at that?
HEy Jeff ... Is there something your beloved fans can do to petition Caroline and Buzz to give you your back catalog so we can see those gems join your other gems like Hearts of Palm and Levitate ect in being pressed on Vinyl ? How can we just help you overall ? You are our family ... family helps one another. Hope you are having fun and finding grace in life's affairs:)
The only example I can think of off the top of my head is Red House Painters' final album Old Ramon, which was recorded for an imprint of Island that ceased to exist before the album was released. Somehow Kozelek worked out a deal to buy it back and Sub Pop released it. Not sure of how that was accomplished exactly... Kozelek also reissued Sun Kil Moon's Ghosts of the Great Highway on Caldo Verde (originally on Badman) but getting it back from an indie is probably a lot easier.
Nate, What I believe to be true is that they won't sell the catalogue back to me for a reasonable price. They would rather hold on to the rights if by chance
Idaho makes it big someday and/or someone wants to use the music in film/TV/commercials. But I really should investigate further. Have you or anyone heard of an artist buying back their music from a label??
Jeff -- I'm just curious, because I've never seen anything about this... if the first three records are owned by other entities who can't even be bothered to keep them in digital "print," have they ever been willing to give you a $$ figure at which they would sell/license them back to you or to another label? They're clearly not making any money off of them as is... Thanks.
Yes I know .....me too Brian!!. I wish there were more hours in the day to create these. I'm getting close to finishing the new one:) I hear it will take at least 6 months to get the vinyl made :(
Yeah, just going to bump this thread.....i would love to have Idaho on vinyl....literally any album.
Any news on the Vinyl Reissue front? Would definitely order "Alas" and "Hearts of Palm" instantly.
Yes digital download of course!!
can't wait to see these reissues!! i'd love to see lone gunman, but i think i might be in the minority... can't argue with a hop/levitate double whammy though :)
Will this live release also be available as digital download? (perhaps with purchase of lp??).
sad about "three sheets to the wind"
so "this way out" is locked up as well :(
But great to hear you're alive and producing fruit Jeff ! Make sure you empower us fans with good updates and content to share with this world the beauty of Idaho. So many who've yet to discover your music that would love it if they had were exposed. and a load that have been blessed so far. Yours is one of my top 3 favorite bands.
have fun though. .please ...have fun doing what you do. Thanks jeff and blessing on you and yours !
Thanks Brian!! Yes, a live double LP is about to be mixed. Will come out later this year with a new record to follow in early '16. I will start to press the older releases later this year if all goes as planned. Unfortunately I can't press 3 sheets as that's forever owned by Universal :(
I too would love to see "Hearts of Palm" , "Levitate" , "Three Sheets.." and "Alas" on vinyl in some form or fashion. JEff your music has had an impact on people and should be given the opportunity to continue to impact.
This is a great idea Nick!!
Hey Jeff
Great to hear that you're seriously moving toward the vinyl reissues of Hearts and Levitate - makes sense as they're both on your own publishing label.
I have another thought you may or may not have considered - the relatively recent 2cd reissue of Forbidden/Alas Special Edition, as released by Halfpipe Records, might make for a nice existing template for a 2xLP version of the same, though w/o the 6 extra tracks, and assuming it can be cut to vinyl from a hi-res master and of course if you still have access to Halfpipe Records.
Captured Tracks/Flying Nun's deluxe 2xLP gatefold reissue of The Cleans "Vehicle" makes an excellent reference to how well it could be executed - Alas as a single LP paired with a 12" of The Forbidden EP at 45rpm wide groove in a gatefold w/liner notes and photos from the existing Halfpipe Records 2cd booklet.
I love those two releases so much I feel compelled to explore all possibilities to reissue them on vinyl in a deserving manner that respects they're supreme quality.
Sorry for the long message but couldn't convey any other way.
Thanks for all your efforts,
Nick
Hi William,
Currently I'm compiling live recordings to release on vinyl. Weird that you just brought this up as i am also seriously considering Hearts/Levitate Vinyl LPs to be released at the same time this year. YES!!!!
Wondering how the vinyl reissues are going? Levitate and Hearts of palm are the ones I am looking for. Thanks
??? I have Three Sheets To The Wind on vinyl....
You should release "People Like Us Should Be Stopped" as a 10 inch. I don't understand all of the apologizing for the recording quality- I think it's one of the best live recordings I've heard.
Whatever needs to be done let's do it! It seems like every day i look on the internet to find a copy of 'this way out' on wax and never find a thing. I am so eager to find a copy.
Great idea!! Never really considered this one but perhaps you're on to something :)
Hello Jeff...
Please consider "We Were Young And Needed The Money" as a candidate for a vinyl reissue - even as a comp, it is...
1) the equal of classics ("This Way Out" through "Hearts Of Palm"),
2) not a problem for securing rights since you already control licensing under Idahomusic,
3) would easily transition from the 60 minute cd and booklet to a fine gatefold 2xLP, and
4) though it doesn't need it, you could possibly tack on additional liner notes and a few photos to round it out.
Sincerely,
Nick
^ If this happens I'll be so happy!
I'll look into this thanks!! May be just the ticket
I second the idea for a kickstarter options. It's a win-win. You get the money to make it, we do a down payment on the records we want.
Jeff, I just emailed you via bandcamp about this site. Maybe they could be of help. We want vinyl :)
http://beatdelete.co.uk/help
Jeff.
Have you ever thought about doing a kickstarter
type thing to maybe fund a vinyl reissue?
I have been on an IDAHO trip lately, well since 94 really but there is something really special about dropping that needle down on vinyl, the bayonet ep i feel so lucky to have misses it's glorious counterparts!!!
what i wouldn't do for three sheets or any other for the matter is starting to scare me a bit!!!!
it's time.
You and me both. YAY on LP is a rare bird.
I will see if Caroline will put the first 3 records on iTunes. Not sure where to start. Weird that all that music is buried for the most part.
To Jeff or to Whom it may concern,
Is there any possibility of obtaining an copy of the LP of Year After Year? Missed an opportunity last year by a day or two. Major admirer of your work. If not that, any chance you would release the album on iTunes? Hope all is Well.
Regards,
Chase
happy new year Jeff, can't wait to hear/see what's next ... around sunrise on Jan 1st my Pomegranite Bleeding 7" made its way onto the decks - a fine start to the year indeed
HoP a personal favourite - do keep us posted!
Hey Jeff,
How is the LP going? I am surprised you still have copies left of it.
Isn't it time for a boxset? All albums exept Dick. Would be amazing.
Looking forward to new music.
Greetings
since i'm taking idaho "seriously" now after a decade of trying out composing i would venture to say that releasing back titles on vinyl is something i oft ponder. HOP is in the works right now but the other's would follow if that LP does ok :)
ooooh "Alas" ...I would die. that's such a good album.
and Three Sheets to the Wind would be sweet too.
Any chance of seeing vinyl reissues of the Idaho catalog in the near future? I have Year After Year, the Bayonet EP, and You Were A Dick, on vinyl (plus all the 7 inches). I need the records in between please. I'd also like to see a vinyl reissue of Yr after Yr.
