whitey, you don't enjoy scotch, you only slug it. stick to your bourbon, yankee heathen.
whitey, you don't enjoy scotch, you only slug it. stick to your bourbon, yankee heathen.
No scotch for me, but I do enjoy pounding back a couple of St. Ides 40's on a nightly basis.
Does anyone here enjoy drinking scotch as much as I do?
Pantsy, sadly, it would appear that az gal has moved on... to pastures far less "green", white(y) even, ...or sumthin'
Poor Green!
whitey, considering that im an all american hoe (a nationalistic tool - get it?) you'll have to get in line first.
az gal said:

Fuck You.
..or sumthin.
Yeah!!!! You're GODDAMNED RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'M SICK OF THIS BULLSHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
yeah!! what is the deal with this "or sumthin'" horse-shit?? Who started it? Come on, guys, stop being such fuckin' idiots!
Any user who uses "or sumthin'" again will have a lot to answer for.
What's the deal with this "or sumthin" shit? Is it an inside joke that's supposed to be funny?
"What is the most scientifically correct album in your collection?"
"Bach: Goldberg Variations; Preludes & Fugues"
Least scientifically correct album(s): Jandek - "Six and Six", "I Threw you Away", "White Box Requim"; Loren Connors - "Departing of a Dream" (trilogy); John Lennon "Two Virgins"; and, apparently, Marquis de Tren and Bonny Prince Billy - "Get on Jolly" :(
...or sumthin'...
az gal, i'm sure green meant no harm. aside from the incident in which he distracted me with his Idaho liscence plate while I was driving, causing me to crash headlong into a Burger King, which in turn gave my car severe Whopper damage, he's a nice fellow.
there's nothing going on except green stalking me. i didn't even know the boy until he started telling me what i should and shouldn't grasp. the pervert.
The most scientifically correct album in my collection is Get Rich or Die Tryin' by 50 Cent. I found it inside a Discman someone had lost. It is irrefutable proof that the theory of evolution has a few bugs.
I apologize for the spelling error in my last post. I misspelled the word "album" as "slbum". It is my sincere hope that this minor mistake will not cause any confusion or consternation among any users of this message board.
This thread has no scientific merit whatsoever, and should therefore be discontinued.
Instead of asking the question "What is the worst slbum you own?", we should be asking "What is the most scientifically correct album in your collection?".
...or sumthin'...
Get a room, you two!
so, yeah that's fine with me. but I wasn't the one telling ppl who to reserver their comments for.
oops. now I ended my sentence with a preposition. I just can't seem to get a point across with all these grammatical errors.
man, that's alright with me as long as I can also do what you and everyone else does -comment when and *to whom* I want.
yeah, but that's not my job. I'll just do as you and everyone else does:comment when and to who I want, if that's alright with you.
and you have to apologize for not being a man. I got it: "az gal". "gal" as in "girl". and "girl" as in "not a guy". I get it, man.
sorry green im not a man. besides, im seriously curious. why does that bother you? nobody is forcing you to read anything. i am just reacting with jest to a seriously humorous statement.
perhaps you should save your comments for those who are sincerely divisive, like those who swear at others, call them idiots, tell them 'fuck you' etc.
man, let it go.
Sorry ron but I don’t think the world got your memo that they may be listening to “bad” music. They probably don’t even know they listen to bad music because they’ve never met you or listened to your judgements. I wonder how they ever listened to in the first place – considering it was bad music. So what happens to all the music that hasn’t made it to your eardrums? Are they in some kind of musical purgatory?
But since I actually am here LORD JESUS I AM MUSICALLY SAAAAAAVED!
Do you have a beard?
the worst album I own is The Promise Ring's "very emergency". holy crap, was I sorry I bought that one. I was with a couple friends when I first listened to it. I was actually kind of embarrassed. it was like I just took a bite out of a delicious-looking omlet, just to find out that the chef paid some homeless guy to crack a juicy fart on it.
at least once a year, I play it just to see if I'd appreciate it any more than when I first bought it. still sucks...and I never ate omlets again.
This message board needs more pompous blowhard douchebags who think their opinion is fact. In my opinion.
speaking of good/bad music, check out my band's new website: www.thepeachbones.com
that's all i can do is say that you have poor taste in music? well, if all we're left to is a state of preference, what else do you have left if that state of preference is poor?
and why does a discussion about how bad colplay is disprove my "theory?" bottom line: there's good music and there's bad music. if you happen to like bad music, that's your tough luck. don't confuse this with the fact that not all good music is beyond criticism.
Jack Johnson, John Mayer, Jason Mraz, Josh Kelley. Now these guys can write songs. They understand rock history inside and out. And they are acutely aware of the importance of having a first name that starts with J. The Stones were great until Iggy Pop left the band. If only John Lennon hadn't died, Led Zeppelin would still be great. Long live rock history!
m2, I'm totally with you. I bought CDs from both bands and was so disappointed. Especially Jesus and Mary Chain. I read all these great reviews of "Darklands", then I got it and every song was the same boring thing.
I was just kinda indifferent toward Mazzy Star. I love Hope Sandoval's album, though. Loooove her voice.
I think j&mc broke up awhile back – no email needed. I sure did like what they did with the chords they used - the original shoegazer band.
I’ve only heard like one song from mazzy star. But I did like the Death in Vegas song the singer was on (scorpio rising album).
Jack Johnson – heard little of his stuff.
The Stones. They had a few good songs. Pearl Jam = the same. Together they put on one hell of a show (Oakland, 1997)!
Led Zeppelin – I actually appreciate them more as I get older. Never overdoesed on them too much before because except for a brief stint in 8th grade, the hard rock wasn’t my thing.
Pink Floyd, not overrated just waaaaaay overplayed. Wish you were here is just another name for freebird.

Jesus & Mary Chain.
Anything by Jack Johnson.
Seriously ron and whitey, y’all sound like musical scientologists. All we have are opinions. Considering the fact that there WAS a debate over the merits of Coldplay disproves your theory. Denouncing all those who don’t agree makes you no different than clear channel – you just want to force-feed us different stuff.
Sorry, I doubt I’ll ever like Bob Dylan. I have never disputed that many really dig his stuff and regard him as a musical savior, but I don’t like his voice and I’m not a fan of the folk music. You could assert that I have bad taste in music but that is all you can do.
P.S. I also don’t like the Dead. I remember my first year in college I was flabbergasted – here I was listening to the smiths, jesus & the mary chain, rem, love and rockets, et al, and it seemed like everyone else was listing to music like the Steve Miller band and the Dead. Fuckin’ weird it was seeing all these kids who were barely shaving running around like old hippies.
overrated musicians: Bryan Adams, anyone? Or is that too obvious a choice? Worst record in my collection: Spirit, stallion of the Cimarron, or sumthin...
Haven't actually heard it yet but the title alone just makes me wanna hurl. I didn't buy it, buy the way. It was a gift.
Black Sabbath was especially beyond criticism when Ronnie Dio was singing for them. Ron, you never cease to amaze me. How long have you been able to talk out of your ass? It's a neat trick.
CF, I'm sure you're right. I really haven't heard enough old U2.
"it's the non-musicians who seem to never leave that phase."
Congratulations. You have officially posted the most ignorant message in the history of this message board.
whenever i wonder what's wrong with the state of music, i am sometimes reminded when i come to this message board. there are just some bands that, for reasons known to anyone with a musical pulse, are just not subject to the musical criticism of modern-day opinionists. Led Zeppelin is one of them. if you seriously have to consider whether or not they're overrated, you're missing the point... while at the same time confirming that shitty modern-day music all shares the same characteristic: they have no sense of rock history whatsoever. the bands that are beyond criticism are: Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Who, Black Sabbath, and the Beatles. there is a sort of subgroup of artists/bands that are on the fringe, and these bands/artists receive some critical commentary, but it's extremely small in scope. then there are bands that we can have free reign with. for example, we can debate just how shitty Coldplay is--because really, the only question there is "HOW bad are they?" not "are they bad?" U2 certainly isn't a band exempt from criticism. nick drake, however, is on the fringe. there never has been anyone like him, and there never will be again. we'll see 50 versions of Coldplay before we die... and quite possibly, if they go back to the source of good music, they'll be far better than the original.
they make a lot of STONED people happy. i personally think of them as more of a phase band... like everyone who starts to play guitar or bass likes the dead or phish at some point. it's the non-musicians who seem to never leave that phase. simply put, it's just not something i can relate to... that style of music. i wouldn't say that they "suck," i would just say that i don't like it.
Oh, Alex- I usually agree with you- but U2 is an incredibly talented band. Run together? I don't know how old you are but how could you say songs from an album like "The Unforgettable Fire" sound like anything from How to "Dismantle an ATomic Bomb?" The Joshua Tree is a masterpiece in songwriting, plain and simple- though "the Unforgettable Fire" is much moodier and I tend to like it more.
The Stones are not overrated. Old, yes. Overrated, no. Their fans admit when they go astray; but generally a great band.
Agree that the Dead , Trey and Phish all suck- though they make a lot of people happy...
nationalistic? i'm at a loss over that one.
Most overrated band, hands-down: The Grateful Dead.
^^ Agreed.
Anyone who doesn't appreciate Bob Dylan or Neil Young is a mindless nationalistic tool.
Ooooh yeah, the Grateful Dead are atrocious. The first time I heard one of their songs, I was shocked by how bad it was. I also hate Phish, but they at least sound better the the Dead from what I've heard.
As for Led Zeppelin, I liked them for a while in high school. I'd say they're better than the other bands we're mentioning here.
Excellent choice.
Most overrated band, hands-down: The Grateful Dead
Once again, you had to be there. Now Led Zeppelin...
Yeah, the Stones are definitely overrated.
What do you guys think of U2? I've never understood their enormous popularity. Their songs all just kinda run together for me. I used to have "The Joshua Tree" and liked a couple songs, but not enough to listen to them more than a couple times.
nope. sorry, CK, but Rolling Stones got them beat. the Rolling Stones is the worst gathering of human beings for any said purpose ever in the history of the concept of multiple things being able to be gathered together.
peri.od.
Unless you were alive when Dylan first hit, you can't really appreciate the influence he had on the direction of popular music. Whether or not he deserves the accolades he's had since is open to debate. In the long run, Neil Young has written many more songs I admire. Since the topic's been raised: Pearl Jam is the most over-rated band in the history of popular music. Period.
dk. if its just some boast about some music unrelated thing you do for a living its not relevant. however if you think you can really can surprise me go for it!
and i feel bob dylan is overrated and pompous as well. nobody wants to call me an idiot? i'm diappointed.
I don't think I'd call Nick Drake overrated. I've never heard any of his imitators match his haunting qualities. There's just something kinda magical about him.
The "c" stands for Crazy Horse, of course, of course. And az girl, you'd surprised what I'm in charge of.
Thanks, az gal and Alex. It's nice to know I'm not the only anti-christ around here.
I actually do like A LOT of Neil Young's stuff. But not "Tonight's The Night". OK, maybe it's not the WORST album I ever owned... but it's definitely the most overrated.
And speaking of overrated: Nick Drake anyone?
Alas or This Way Out
The only Neil song I can think of that I would ever care to listen to again is "Philadelphia". As for Bob Dylan, uh.....
whitey said "No reasonable human can believe that anything by Neil young is capable of being the worst piece of music that they own. "
considering you have not seen everyone's music collection it is completely unreasonable that you think they are unreasonable.
As for dk and ron thank goodness you are not in charge of...anything!
wanna rumble? I don’t like Bob Dylan!!!!
Ha! What does the "c" stand for, "dk"?
fuck neil young?
fuck you!
Exactly what I would expect from "idiots."
it's funny how so many people here get offended if someone dislikes something they like or likes something they dislike. fuckin' babies
I used to wonder what "c" stood for, but not anymore.
Yngwie Malmsteen's Rising Force.
Hozin, I'm not sure which is worse: (1) the album cover, (2) the poster insert of Alvin bestride a Mechanical Bull, or (3) the assumption that I would wear such a vulgar timepiece.
I haven't a wristwatch.
I do wear my socks after the manner of Mr. McDoodles though.
P.s. the Chipettes were hot.
Fuck Neil Young.
No reasonable human can believe that anything by Neil young is capable of being the worst piece of music that they own.
You're an idiot.
Len "Can't Stop the Bum Rush" - canadian hip hop shite; my local record shop won't even take it for free.
It's debauchery on tape. It's not terribly easy listening, but there's an invisible elephant on that album. When fueled by cheeseburgers and tequila, I can't imagine how else an album could sound.
Not his best, but not his worst.
"Tonight's The Night" by Neil Young. I don't actually own it anymore, but I did at one point. By all accounts this album is supposed to be a dark, harrowing masterpiece, but it's not. It's just DULL - and that's being generous. I don't know what other people see in it. Blah.
i don't actually own this album, but it's in my house: DreamTheatre's "Falling Into Infinity." yike! i don't own any bad albums. :)
easy one
Ian McCulloch - Candleland. What a piece of shite. It has one good song and its somewhere in my closet (i tell myself that one day i would make a windchime or other popart of these old cds but i never do)
John Lennon - "Unfinished Music No.1: Two Virgins"
And, for what it is worth, this is the first (music, non-narrative) album I owned:
http://brian.salomaki.com/galleryalbums/boston02/aas.sized.jpg
Queensryche "Operation Mindcrime"
An A Silver Mount Zion album immediately pops into my mind. I can't stand that stuff. Or Cat Power's "Moonpix".
The Best of Cameo.
Queen is awesome.
Mine is the "Vision Quest" Soundtrack. I keep it to remind me that mistakes happen.
What's the worst album in your collection?
Mine is: The greatest hits of Queen. or maybe "Ready for the world - Oh Sheila"
