RE: mp3s of | from KeithNov 21 2004 - 11:11

Jeff, excellent work. The sheer number of variations (progressions/instrumentation/styles/textures) you've come up with alone is impressive. I really like your use of the mute on the piano, I think the way you recorded that was great, and those particular cues were really beautiful. I could imagine a whole album full of something like that. I like the Donnie Darko-esque cue a lot(ep3 1m6)

Lots of great ideas, nothing sounded rushed or as if you were in a huge state of panic. Perhaps if you worked from a single theme it might have been easier, but this collection of tunes is really a testament to your impeccable taste.

RE: mp3s of | from NecNov 10 2004 - 20:26

ep3 1m2 is f$cking brilliant!@

RE: mp3s of | from NecrosisNov 10 2004 - 11:01

Awesome Jeff, thank you so much!

RE: mp3s of | from greenNov 10 2004 - 07:09

thanks for posting the tracks on the site. I didn't get to see the show. some of it is really nice, too. can't wait to hear the new album.

RE: mp3s of | from JeanNov 06 2004 - 23:11

Ep3 1m2 and a bunch of others are different too.

RE: mp3s of | from Alex NiedtNov 06 2004 - 23:06

ep2 1m2 is soooooo different from IDAHO. Kinda funny.

RE: mp3s of | from JR OlssonNov 06 2004 - 06:56

I downloaded all of them and have been listening straight through them a couple of times. sounds fantastic. very idahoish.

but it's annoying that they are too short... i never got the chance to see the show on tv. i wonder if it'll ever be aired in sweden?

are these "songs" just as short on the tvshow? or did you shorten them down because you had too?

RE: mp3s of | from ronNov 05 2004 - 15:56

freaking brilliant!

RE: mp3s of | from ronNov 05 2004 - 15:52

hmmm.... no i did not. the first song, the very first one listed. i'll check it out right now. thanks!

RE: mp3s of | from jeffNov 05 2004 - 14:41

by the 1st song do you mean ep6 5m2? if so, did you see/hear that there are 2 other versions of that one from ep5 and ep1 ?

RE: mp3s of | from ronNov 05 2004 - 14:38

maybe a little... a little of push and shove, a little tension... maybe a little more than in the previous IDAHO stuff. but that's the great thing about it. you seem to do well under pressure... and if some sort of weirdness came out in the songs, that's all the better. i said it before, that first song just blows my mind! i can't stop listening to it. DAMN YOU!!!! ;)

RE: mp3s of | from jeffNov 05 2004 - 14:08

did everything in my own studio idaho style ....just had NO time to perfect stuff.... which isnt such a bad thing ive learned...i dont own any of it...sort of sad cause i hear some of them becoming legitimate idaho songs....this music was made in a near panic every week with the deadline looming....im shocked that the producers only asked for maybe 3 or 4 cue changes during the show's run ...i think i was lucky in that respect. i should say that i had to do a real tight rope walk between the creator of the show, who loved the music i make naturally, and the producers who didnt really get my vibe at all....i wonder if that is apparent in the music...?

RE: mp3s of | from Jeff B. Nov 05 2004 - 13:11

Hey Jeff, did you employ the same recording methods as you have for Idaho (at home, by yourself) for this stuff, or did the studio have you in one of their production studios? just wondering.
by the way, ep6 3m1 chokes me up everytime I hear it. pure beauty.

RE: mp3s of | from michelNov 05 2004 - 11:41

wow havent heard all yet - theyre like intros for new songs - expecting vocals not fade outs.
very nice should make wonderful future segues/ghosttracks for a couple of cds right? I mean you wouldn't want to mention it in the booklet i guess, are these yours still jeff or you had to sell them?

RE: mp3s of | from jeffNov 05 2004 - 09:14

alex, the cello stuff is actually a chamberlin sound. the octagon is used very sparcely....i agree with you.that cello sample only works tucked way in the background

RE: mp3s of | from willNov 04 2004 - 23:04

i figured it out. just hold-click(Mac) of right-click (PC) on the link to each MP3 and "Save Link As." you can save it to your desktop and then move them to iTunes. my original message was meant for Marc, not Ron. i got the names mixed up. it's awesome to have all thse nice little idaho tidbits.

RE: mp3s of | from ronNov 04 2004 - 20:22

hmmm. maybe i don't know how to get them into my iTunes. it wouldn't be the first time i couldn't figure something out! :)

RE: mp3s of | from jeffNov 04 2004 - 16:58

there shouldnt be a problem putting these on an ipod...just "add to library" in iTUNES...then drag 'em over to your iPOD

RE: mp3s of | from ronNov 04 2004 - 14:39

actually, i don't have these on my iPod. i don't think there's a way to do it... at least not a legal way. i thought about doing some weirdness with garage band and a pre-amp and . . . but i probably won't work. thanks jeff. thanks a lot. ;)

RE: mp3s of | from Alex NiedtNov 03 2004 - 09:03

You're right Ron; there's no shaker like an IDAHO shaker. What other band could make a shaker a trademark sound?

All these clips are wonderful. I missed the last couple episodes on TV, but episode six has amazing music. Ep6 5m1, ep6 3m1, ep6 2m4, ep6 1m8, and ep6 1m4 are my favorites. Ep6 2m4 and 1m8 would be so awesome as fully developed songs. Love the low vocals on the latter. Ep4 1m7 would be a great fully-developed song, too. So many...

But I gotta say I'm not a fan of the Optigan sounds. The cello's kinda distracting because sometimes it's not quite convincing enough when mixed high. But it sounds pretty good when mixed low. The low-mixed flute patch sounds pretty cool, too.

RE: mp3s of | from willNov 03 2004 - 08:34

hey ron, i'm curious how youwent about transferring these MP3s into your iTunes. they open up in my browser and i can't figure out how to save them.

RE: mp3s of | from ronNov 02 2004 - 19:45

hey jeff b., right on man! seriously, i can't stop listening to that first song. i'm so confused by it. it's almost like there's no structure to it... but there is. and no one, and i do mean no one, utilizes a shaker like IDAHO. thanks for giving us something to hold us over until the release. a little bread and circuses, no?

RE: mp3s of | from Jeff B.Nov 02 2004 - 16:14

I don't even care if I get flamed by the annonymous assholes who post here sometimes-
Jeff, your music is a treasure to me. I have been following Idaho ever since I heard "Skyscrape" on a CMJ sampler 12 or so years ago.
While I have certain fave Idaho records, I have never, ever been let down by a new release, and this music from the Days only confirms to me that you are truly gifted and I just wanted to let you know how much your music means to me. Thank you so much, and keep it coming!

RE: mp3s of | from ronNov 02 2004 - 16:01

FUCKING HELL! that first mp3 blew my mind. totally awesome, man. it made my day... and i don't mean that in a weirdo no-life kinda way.

RE: mp3s of | from TimNov 02 2004 - 14:52

thanks jeff, these are great clips.

RE: mp3s of | from marcNov 02 2004 - 11:07

Cheers Jeff!

Something new for the iPod, thanks!
