RE: Idaho mix cd | from stemsDec 22 2003 - 09:24

I have now scoured all local music shops and some in a nearby large city. I have not unearthed one Idaho CD.

Damn.

I'll just have to wait until after xmas and use plastic I guess. Mailorder.

This is a pity because I so love the mp3s and clips I've heard of Idaho. I feel like an idiot posting here when I don't even own any of the bands music yet.

Plus loads of fab EP's and 3 sheets! Just by the lot then you won't miss out on any gems.

Exclude everything before Alas? LOL!
Year After Year, and This Way Out are both timeless masterpeices that should never be left out of an Idaho comp, but that's just my opinion.
"God's Green Earth", "One Sunday", "The only Road", "Weird Wood", "Forever"!!! I mean come on, how can you omit these masterpeices? How?

RE: Idaho mix cd | from ronDec 21 2003 - 07:12

thanks. i would, in many ways, think those two songs are quite indicative of "the idaho sound." what i need to do is buy "alas." shame on me.

"Tensile" is the second song on Alas. Maybe your friend got the title confused.

The other song you're thinking of is "Jump Up". It's the first song on Alas.

This music nerd moment was made possible by my iPod.

RE: Idaho mix cd | from herrelDec 19 2003 - 16:08

hi ron,

thats "jump up" the first song on "alas"

RE: Idaho mix cd | from ronDec 19 2003 - 15:32

some of my favorite IDAHO songs are on a burnt CD a friend made me. "tinsel" is one of them... and the song that has a lyric something like "i know i'll be inside your dream tonight..." it has a pretty female harmony along with it. i have no idea the name of that song.

RE: Idaho mix cd | from RyanDec 19 2003 - 03:06

I made a two-disc Idaho compilation, concentrating heavily on the "rock" stuff. I think it would probably sound good on a road trip, but I haven't tested that theory yet.

Personally, I don't mind CDRs being only 70 minutes or so. I find long albums very tedious, no matter how good they are. Some of my favorite CDs, RHP's "Rollercoaster" and The Cure's "Disintegration" almost never play all the way through on my CD player. I find "Alas" perfect in its blissful 28 minutes (or 34 with the hidden track). Soul Whirling Somewhere CDs are an exception, though.

RE: Idaho mix cd | from micahDec 18 2003 - 22:12

you also made a decision, whether conscious or unconscious, to exclude any of the rocking songs...

i think i'm going to burn the same songs onto a cd for myself tonight, as i could use some genuine (blissful) sleep.

I have all the records (except people like us...), but I made a conscious decision to exclude everything before Alas, just for the fuck of it.
1. this cloud we're on 2. stayin out in front 3. wondering the fields 4. a second chance 5. down in waves 6. for granted 7. much closer now 8. nothing wrong 9. on the shore 10. yesterday's unwinding 11. dum dum 12. scrawny 13. the sun is all there is 14. to be the one 15. spiral 16. run but you ran 17. clouded 18. Levitate 19. before you go.
I hate 74 minute cdr's.......
