RE: Top Five Live Shows | from cNov 05 2003 - 11:10

I went to see my heroes Killing Joke play at the TLA in Philadelphia on Oct. 26. It was my first KJ show ever, after being a fan for about 12 years. Well, KJ decided not to play at the last minute - apparently Jaz Coleman wasn't feeling well. I am still pissed off about it. Fucking pussies.

RE: Top Five Live Shows | from farmcafeNov 05 2003 - 09:12

update to my earlier post:

saw Black Rebel Motorcycle Club recently. They almost burst my eardrums, but what a glorious way for them to go. smashing performance (literally, the guitarist broke all the vocal mics. i guess he wasn't pleased with the sound guy. heck of a show ender.).

One band that opened for them was called Pela. Talk about great energy! They reminded me alot of Pinback with a pinch of Engine Down. Please take time to check them both out. The Decemberists wont let you down!!!

Swervedriver @ several clubs
will oldham @ lyric theatre

Sleepy-Eyed

RE: Top Five Live Shows | from AlexAug 24 2003 - 13:51

I like "Summer" also, but I don't really care for the rest of...ummm...whatever the album's called.

RE: Top Five Live Shows | from John GibbonAug 24 2003 - 11:47

I remember when that show got cxld. and then I was supposed to be on the guest list for the TLA and tada! I'm not. "Summer" is a big favorite of mine too. Ever see/hear Bill's Janowitz's brother's band, Cold Water Flat?

Oh and the sad thing is, as much as I love Idaho, I never saw them.

RE: Top Five Live Shows | from Andrew KellierAug 23 2003 - 19:23

I love the song "Summer" by Buffalo Tom.

RE: Top Five Live Shows | from JR OlssonJun 26 2003 - 00:26

Godspeed you black emperor played at södra teatern in sthlm last year. that was the best show i've ever been too. i just COULD NOT sit down when they played the tracks from 'slow riot...'. and it was a theatre so it looked kind of funny, but i saw other ppl sitting further down, on the floor (i was on the balcony (?)) and they did the same thing.

second best was unida playing at Klubben in sthlm 1998. it was my first rockshow. and if you don't know unida, the band (at the time) contained john garcia and scott reeder from the late great kyuss.

third best must have been when i was 13 and sat in a local bands rehearsal room and listen to them rehearsing. they are called blowball and at the time i was really digging skatepunk!

i've never seen my favourite bands alice in chains, red house painters, idaho, mogwai, screaming trees. some of them i will never get the chance to see either.

RE: Top Five Live Shows | from AlexJun 25 2003 - 21:38

1) Metallica in first grade 2) Peter, Paul, and Mary in fourth grade. 3) Red Hot Chili Peppers in fifth grade.

Top Five Live Shows | from PatrickJun 25 2003 - 21:31

I started the My Morning Jacket/Les Savy Fav live string, but it is just too limited. What are your top five live shows you've been to? Please limit it to five and chose shows from great experiences not just musical snobbery. For example, number three on your list was that time you saw Sha Na Na in 1978, but number two was an Idaho show in 1993.
