Foo fighters = boring. Same ol "alternative" rock which is what sent me in search of something different. Like Idaho. My Morning Jacket is alright but they lean to far to the rootsy country rock stuff for my taste. That entire genre makes me queasy.

Sorry I haven't heard of the Paper Cheese. Unfortunately Ron I can't back you up on the Foo Fighters I never could get into them, but for others who don't like the Foo Fighters don't disqualify MMJ just because they are opening for them. Bad example but Hendrix opening for the Monkees? Their albums, eps, and split with Songs:Ohia are all quite good. However they just signed to a major and who knows what that will do.

i don't think there's anything else to add but the Swell song " Fuck Even Flow"....

actually, you should be thanking the foo fighters for giving MMJ the chance to open for them. the foo fighters are a great band, despite their drug run-in's. just because they've made it huge doesn't make their music bad. there are a few bands out there that are good that aren't totally underground and "cool to like." take pearl jam for instance. some of their best music has come after their first 3 records. in fact, their last 4 records are amazing. they hand-pick their opening band for every tour! now that's cool. they DON'T HAVE to do that, but they do. perhaps the foo's are doing the same... perhaps not. either way, their still a great band.

My Morning Jacket is opening for the Foo Fighters. Doesn't that automatically disqualify them from this website?

i saw My Morning Jacket open for Eye's Adrift in Dallas last year. i had no idea who they were or sounded like but they did put on a good live show. haven't heard their cd though.

Well, I'm a big fan of Idaho, but I listen tons of different music as well. I have "The Cat and The Cobra"...it's a very good record, but I've never seen them playing live. I saw a band in a similar vein a few months ago and they were just incredible: The Paper Cheese. Have you ever heard of them?

I haven't seen too many people talk about these bands lately, but I have to say that their live performances absolutely blew me away. I saw Les Savy Fav last week and My Morning Jacket a few months ago. Probably two of the finest live bands around. Tons of energy. Anyone agree (or disagree)? (Although not in the same vein as Idaho, I figure some of you have listened to them.)
