I'm a huge Triffids fan. I think they're easily one of the most underrated bands of the 80s. "Born Sandy Devotional" is a genius, genius album from start to finish, and Calenture, Black Swan and their others all have excellent moments as well.

A remastered version of "Born Sandy devotional" with loads of extra tracks is easily available from amazon.co.uk for about 8 measly quid!
Glad to be of help Blue astronaut- thats a pseudonym right?
Happy shopping, all the best Alan.

Saw The Triffids minus David last night - awesome. They had guest singers - all friends of David and the band.

BSD & Calenture are now available on Domino records.

Enjoy!

Mplaster, I don't know your music at all, which I'm sure I'll take a beating about on here. Still, it's good to find another person that remembers the Triffids. And, yeah, Wide Open Road is a fine song. If you like that you'd probably like Jerdacuttup Man off Calenture. If you can find the time to dig it up, then do.

Hey mplaster. This is probably getting old and annoying, but when can we expect a new CD? I've been checking your site practically every day this year, hoping for some news. My other SWS discs are sure to wear out soon. I hope all is well.

RE: TRIFFIDS FANS... | from mplasterJun 16 2003 - 18:08

naw, it's okay... i can't expect everyone to like my music. different strokes for different folks.

RE: TRIFFIDS FANS... | from JeanJun 16 2003 - 06:50

Let's hope Michael doesn't read it. If you do, ignore it Michael! Bkahuna is under an evil spell.

RE: TRIFFIDS FANS... | from AlexJun 16 2003 - 06:46

I'm going to pretend I didn't just read that.

Another SWSW disc - like Bright Eyes or the new Evan Dando solo disc, I can't seem to find the reason to spend time digging deeper...

true dat

RE: TRIFFIDS FANS... | from Andrew KellierJun 13 2003 - 23:29

Now now, no bothering mplaster. He has a new Soul Whirling Somewhere record to make.

RE: TRIFFIDS FANS... | from Blue-AstronautJun 13 2003 - 17:43

Didn't mean to get you down mplaster. Have you ever heard the Calenture album? Martyn Casey plays in the Bad Seeds now, and David Mccomb died in a car crash about 5 or 6 years ago. Sad.

RE: TRIFFIDS FANS... | from mplasterJun 10 2003 - 22:11

wow i had almost completely forgotten about them. i think i may have Born Sandy on vinyl hiding somewhere in the deep recesses of my LP's somewhere. not sure if ive ever seen it on CD, though...

wow i should find that. Wide Open Road.... that was a great song...

Man, i'm old.

I, as a fucked up, dumb, idiot human, do apologise for spending myself twice on the board. Fuckin fingers. These evolved, opposable thumbs're still causing me no end of shit. Still, I didn't expect such brutal treatment in an Idaho world. Jeech, I was only asking, ferchrissakes. No need to be so fuckin' sharp.
