I too see the Cure influence in a couple songs.

Yep. I'm about to start college, and have no money to spare for skilled mixers/engineers/masterers/etc.
So you mix everything yourself? Very impressive.
Thank you very much Arnaud. My visions for certain songs change often, and I love to rearrange/rerecord them. I'm never satisfied with my vocals either. Also, my recording skills get better and better. I've only been doing this for a couple of years now. In early recordings, I really didn't know what I was doing recording/mixing-wise. Finally, I don't think you'll ever be seeing my CDs in stores (unless you mean on-line stores). I have no connections to any labels or distributors of any kind.
Very impressive ! I've listened to the 'red flower' ones and it makes me think (sorry for searching for a box to put you in...) of Mark Eitzel too (probably the fingerpicking style and the low-key voice). A bit of the first RHP records too for this 'drowned in reverb' feeling. I swear I had some shivers at one point...
I think the mixing is particularly good for a basement recording.
But most of all: WHAT A VOICE !!!
Just because I'm curious: why do you re-record some songs ? (better recording gear? new arrangements ?)
Hope I can see your CD in store soon...
Wow! Thanks everyone. All of your comparisons are right on the money. Although I've somewhat distanced myself from The Cure over the last couple of years, I guess their influence will always pop up every once in a while. "I'd Give Everything" is the only downright Cure-ish song (synth strings galore and 6-string bass solo) I've written in a long time. "Memories Will Fade Away" was written in early 2002 I think. It came from Cure influence and hearing Joy Division's "Closer". And "The Mirror" definitely has an SWS ring to it.
Oops... I meant to say "I can't decide on a favorite."
I love your stuff. I hear SWS influence too, but it's still quite original-sounding. I decide on a favorite. Each one has a certain beauty... Oh BTW, I'm e-mailing for a CD also.
I hear some influence from The Cure's Disintegration. It would go well with any Projekt release...
Your songs are truly amazing. When comparing certains tracks, your songwriting is incredibly versatile. You'd think differnt people wrote them (not implying that you didn't). The cuts from the CD with the red flower cover are like Mark Eitzel on Songs of Love Live: pretty chords, very passionate, with a great vulnerability. Memories Will Fade Away (a very beautiful, Joy Division-ish song) and when the drums come in on The Mirror (think Soul Whirling Somewhere) are my immediate favorites. Hopefully others will listen too. I'll e-mail for a CD.
incredible... all of themm. how is there no label involved?
Hi guys. I just finished my MP3.com page. I have never gotten feedback on my music, and would greatly appreciate your thoughts. Thank you. mp3.com/Alex_Niedt
