"if the disk is scratched or the neoprene heads have dried out they can be shot.
Most of the time though you just need to put some fresh oil in them and put a new belt on the motor and everything is fine"

I know nothing at all about all this technical instument stuff, but I would just like to comment on what a nice guy Dan is....hw always seems willing to offer his insights which is refreshing

They are not easy to fix, and if the disk is scratched or the neoprene heads have dried out they can be shot.
Most of the time though you just need to put some fresh oil in them and put a new belt on the motor and everything is fine. Read the threads on the Tel-Ray page about repairing them, and if it sounds like something you could do by all means give it a try.

i too had the chance to pick one of these units up last year at a pawn shop. i'm not sure what was wrong with it but it made an awful squeeling noise when turned on. it was $50, and i passed on it. it was gone the next week though.

if i could get ahold of one of these (a broken one) for cheap (less than $100) is it possible that it could be repaired inexpensively? the one i'm looking at (online) claims that the delay function is not working but could be repaired. i know i'm clutching at straws here, but if you have any experience with these, could you tell me whether or not it would be a viable option, or whether i should just move on? thanks.

no idaho songs have it on them sadly to say. I discovered it post idaho. There are some sound samples on the tel-ray page, but they don't really do the device justice. The people there are mostly looking for an old slap-back like super analog delay sound, which the EVO-1 does, but it also can do this magic ghostly thing when it gets into the infinite repeat, kind of like underwater angels singing what you hoped you had played. There are some settings on an Eventide Harmonizer that are similar.

i've been trying to track down a morley evo-1, based on the space echo thread, and because dan's description was so appealing. however, i've never actually been in the presence of one of these physically to know what they sound like, and i'm afraid to buy one online until i actually hear what it does. (they're not cheap.) can anyone tell me which idaho songs include this guitar effect? i'd love to have some point of referece for this. thanks.
