Hum were awesome for sure.

I`ve been listening to the new Richard Buckner album,Impasse. All the songs seemed alike at first but after a few listens it`s really growing on me.

I loved HUM ... they were so rad. I too loved their last album the most. Is the Centaur album worth buying? What is it like?
I like the bass player in Castor too. Castor ruled.

hum was the best. their last record was such a mind-blower. it's a shame they are no more. i saw them last in pittsburgh (i forget who they were with). they were so good live and soooo funny. the singer would give long intros to the songs and they were all very weird. he was drunk. good times.

Hum is super. I saw them open up for the Verve. Amazing show.

Awesome, another Hum fan! also, there's a site where you can download a few live YOTR shows, I forget the name though. How is that ep?

RE: New Records | from ashley b.Nov 16 2002 - 09:22

my fav. recent releases are:

Centaur - In Streams: it's matt talbot from HUM's new-ish band

Lanterna - Sands

Year of the Rabbit - Hunted EP: this is ken andrew's new project and features, among others, tim dow on drums. for those of you who like shiner, tim dow was one of their first drummers and beat the skins for them up until about '97.

Sonic Youth - Murray Street

Glifted - Under and In: tim lash, ex. HUM guitarist

I think "after everything" is fantastic. Subjectively speaking of course.

RE: New Records | from christianNov 15 2002 - 10:44

my current favorites are WIRE - read & burn 02 (as good as 01 was, this one shreds it), 12RODS - lost time, CIRCUS DEVILS - the harold pig memorial, CRISPY AMBULANCE - scissorgun, and INTERPOL - turn on the bright lights. this has been a great year for music.

RE: New Records | from Jeff B. Nov 14 2002 - 23:44

just saw Shiner at the empty bottle last sunday - talked to Josh and Gerken was in rare form, tried to bleed all over some sticks by pricking himself with a switchblade, but his callous must've been to hard - best drummer alive, that Jason Gerken kid........ meh.

I just got the Yo La Tengo "Nuclear War" single today. It's cracking me up.

Probably my favorite CD I've gotten recently is a Bud Powell disc called "Strictly Confidential". It's home recordings made while he was living in Paris.

The new Theivery Corporation is pretty good, too.

RE: New Records | from debaserNov 12 2002 - 20:07

holy smokes!
Another church fan?
why am i'm always amazed to find the people here in love with this little unknown band idaho also love the same music i love?

i haven't picked up parallel universe only because i don't think "after everything" is one of their stronger works, and i'm 'fraid that the remix album will be a little too self indulgent.

If you don't have "the egg" by shiner, well, go out and get that right now!

Any one purchase any good cd's lately. I just got the new Sigur Ros and it is pretty darn good.

I also picked up the re-release of Slanted & Enchanted by Pavement. Not a bad invenstment for under 20 bucks. It has some peel session stuff, some remixes, a live 1992 concert and a nice little booklet.

Any one pick up the new Church remix album Parallel Universe?

Is it any good?
