That leads to the only thing I would change about We Were Young. I would have loved to have a studio version of Tear instead of Stayin' Out In Front which is on the Amos 1 collection. Not that it's a bad song. I agree about the 10" tracks too. Save the segues for the live album(s).

mp - "tear" is one of my very favorite IDAHO songs as well. apparently no studio version exists there is a live version on "people like us should stopped" - jeff's singing (howling?) at the end of the song gives me shivers...very emotive

Yep, there was a 10" of the Bayonet EP out, on Fingerpaint Records - it came with 3 extra tracks, Lost you, Live Segues 3 & 7, and Jukebox (I reckon that's what they were). It also came with a postcard with a set of different coloured fingerprints on it... what in the name of blazes is that all about?

Anyway, the songs aren't too special (collector fodder only - sorry Idaho)..., unlike Star, Hail Mary, Ten to Noon and all of those other B-sides that are hard to track down - they're all pretty much great.

Hey eph, lose some weight

RE: Other Outtakes and Alternate Mixes | from mplasterOct 25 2002 - 17:30

yeah i think that ultimately there needs to be another comp album of some sorts to compile songs that we cant get anymore, most importantly "Star" from the 'skyscrape' 7 inch. as well as a ten to noon, red snake.. all those mentioned. hey.. speaking of which... i may be exposing my limited knowledge here, but wasnt there a 10" version of some single many years back.. sometime around 3 sheets era? or is that 'the right escape' single?.... also... many MANY years ago when idaho played here in AZ for the year after year tour, they did a song called "Tear" .. i think.. i absolutely loved it but when this way out was released it wasnt on there. maybe it was just retitled as something else. hard to remember.. this was like a decade ago.. anyone know what im talking about, or am i totally confused?

>hey cb70, you're a very weird guy. get your own band. seriously.

I have. I just enjoy mixing and hearing my favorite music in new ways to uncover the layers of sound. My kid would agree on the wierd part though ;)

These are cool. I'd like to hear complete versions though and if you have anymore alternate sounding Idaho songs, please share. I liked the two RHP songs on the start page also.

i've never heard a ten to noon, or dantanna, or the right escape for that matter. how about a we were young vol. 2?

RE: Other Outtakes and Alternate Mixes | from ??Sep 18 2002 - 12:01

how'd you do those mixes?

RE: Other Outtakes and Alternate Mixes | from ScoobidooSep 18 2002 - 09:05

To Be The One sound really great too! I like the way you try to make it more ambient! Good job!

RE: Other Outtakes and Alternate Mixes | from SarahSep 18 2002 - 08:36

I love that mix of Hearts of Palm on your site. If you could upload the whole song, I'd appreciate it. Jeff's voice sounds so great alone like that.

RE: Other Outtakes and Alternate Mixes | from DeanoSep 18 2002 - 02:03

Jeez: a ten to noon is incredible. I've heard it a zillion times and it still gives me little adrenaline rushes. It's on the B side of Drive (?) which you can probably still pick up.

Was a MP3 that was up for grabs on this site many moons ago. The 2nd Question... I don't know.

This day is a terrific song. Unfortunately I have never heard Dantana, what is it on? And more importantly is it named after the detective show from the early eighties?

RE: Other Outtakes and Alternate Mixes | from Rob sSep 17 2002 - 15:17

Coolner is on it under a different name isn't it? (this day) Was Spiral a different version? (a different mix maybe). Dantana is sorely missed. I would have traded track 4 for Dantana. I have never heard "A ten to noon" or many of the other early B-sides. Poor Jeff. You've created a beautiful monster now.

Like most here, I love the new album. Was a bit disappointed to see that "Dantana" and "Coolner" didn't make the cut along with b-sides like "A Ten To Noon", etc... I enjoyed the slightly alternate version of "Spiral" on the cd and was wondering if anything else along these lines exists in the Idaho vaults?

I created a few mixes of songs that I'd like to see released in alternate forms one day. The mp3 samples can be found at: http://cb70.home.mindspring.com/idaho/
