The piano sounds in this gorgeous new IDAHO video/song immediately reminded me of Eno. So good: http://vimeo.com/20325349

i believe it's a bit of a sub-concious nod.
This is more of a general band query - is the fact that you put maps on your album covers in any way a nod to the Ambient series of Eno-related works?
Yes,the Microsoft Sound is by
Brian Eno.And it makes perfect sense
to discuss him here because I always
linked the Idaho sound with him even when I wasn't familiar
with his work (that ambience),
now I have lots of Eno,so...
someone was telling me that brian eno created the "default" windows start up sound for microsoft. anyone know if this is true? just curious...
If you're a fan of the ambient work such as The Pearl (which is a bit melodic, actually), steer clear of his early pop work and head for these records:
"Discreet Music" (1975)
"Music For Airports" (1978 or 9)
"On Land" (1982 or 3)
"Apollo: Sounscapes (for the BBC Documentary)" (1984)
"Thursday Afternoon" (1985 or 1986, can't remember--his gift to the new CD format)
How did I know On Land was a big influence?By the way...
the maps on the back covers,is that an expressly Eno thing?i guess it ties in neatly to what a lot of the stuff is about...
I like the first four solo's--before the
Music From Airports series...and of course the first Roxy Music album, the contrubutions for David Bowie, and the Ghosts record w/David Byrne--but Another Green World/Before & After Science/Here Come The Warm Jets/Tiger Tiger Mtn. By Strategy are just so damn far ahead of their time they could come out in the year 2050 and be right on the cutting edge. Of course the Possible Musics series with Jon Hassel and the pair w/Fripp are a bit more drawn out and extruded, but no drink coasters here, also, altho' they're in a completely different ball park.
i love "on land". there is a great box set as well
i've been curious about Brian Eno for a while, but he has quite a catalog of work. can anybody recomend some stuff to cut my teeth on that might appeal to an idaho fan. i have "the Pearl" with Harold Budd and Daniel Lanois which i like a lot. any info would be appreciated
