...has an interview w/ Jeff and John Post new reply

I agree that the Big T does get a little gushing at times, but what I love about it is that it is put together by people with a genuine love and enthusiasm for music. I'd rather read about Paul Revere and the Raiders than Britney Spears anyday.

I too have been reading the Big T for a few years. It's the kind of magaine that makes me go to the store and buy a CD sound unheard, just on the basis of a review.
However, I must say that after reading the latest issue, I think the publication is just lying it on too thick in general, not just the letters section.
It seems to me that the editor is spending a lot of time on bands that were great at one time but are either defunct now or just shadows of their former selves. If it isn't Brit-pop or The Buzzcocks, Jack just doesn't seem to care much. In fairness though, I am always happy to read the different short-takes on newer bands, and it's great that Jack spreads the CD reviewing chores among different folks, ensuring that a diversity of genres will be covered in every issue.
All of that aside: To the readers of this mesage board, take time to read the Big Takeover... their slogan is "music with heart," which I believe applies to Idaho's work as well as many other bands mentioned elsewhere in this board.

i agree with that too - praise is good, but once you've read one letter like that, you've read them all.

You know, I like Big Takeover. I like it a lot. Even had a letter printed in it concerning Idaho. With that said, THE LETTERS SECTION OF BIG TAKEOVER SUCKS! Every letter is from someone saying how great Big Takeover is! I know all magazines do this, for some reason, but Big Takeover lays it on way too thick. It makes me cringe just thinking about it.

Yeah. I enjoyed that part of the interview too!
The Pollard interview is next on the list for me. It's too bad the Big T only comes out twice a year. It's always worth the wait though, and it keeps me busy for months. The reviews at the back are really daunting, but I try to read as many of them as I can.

i agree - i've been reading the big t for almost 10 years now. the best part of the new issue is the interview with robert pollard, but the idaho interview is cool too. the funniest part is when jeff m. mentions something about a post on this here message board, and jack rabid responds with an incredulous "you actually listen to that garbage?"

The new issue of the Big Takeover (issue 48) has an extensive interview with Jeff and John and a review of the October Knitting factory shows. In addition, it is about the coolest music magazine ever. No. They are not paying me.
It's a little hard to find at news stands. I got my copy at Barnes and Noble. You can also order direct.
