that is a good one.

Any Television fan should check out the last Church album "Box of Birds," which is nothing but covers, including the song "Friction." Plus, their version of Neil Young's "Cortez the Killer" is fantastic.

Woohoo! Television is playing at the Experience Music Project here in Seattle on the 21st!

See emplive.com for more info.

I just saw Suicide last night in Austin...it was hilarious. I suppose it was a little disheartening to see them butcher their own songs...although it certainly was a hell of a lot of fun.

Thanks for the info Chris. My friend is getting married in Florida on May 12th and I'm planning to go, so it doesn't seem too possible that I'll be able to catch the show unless they play early in the festival and I become fabulously wealthy between now and then. Bummer

Maybe they'll decide to tour. You never know...

I think this would be a great time for a Chicago trip Seth.

We used to do Little Johhny Jewel, See No Evil and little guitar snippets from many others in Pet Clarke and Days and Foxhole in Boo Radley.

I bought Marquee Moon about a year and a half ago, and that was it for me. What an incredible band!

Tom Verlaine came through town in the fall playing soundtrack music for vintage silent films. He played at the Experience Music Project. It was quite a treat.

There was a Q + A session with Tom the next night which I also attended. He mentioned that he will have another album of instrumentals coming out on Drag City sometime soon, although I haven't heard anything more on that.

I heard that Television was reuniting to play a show in London, but I had no idea about the Chicago show. I'll have to look that up. My girlfriend and i were thinking about heading to Chicago for vacation anyway.

If anyone's looking for some of the Tom Verlaine solo stuff, you can find a few of the CDs on Amazon.co.uk. They're pretty reasonably priced, as they're basically "super saver" discs over there, and it's a hell of a lot cheaper than eBay. Speaking of eBay, I did manage to score a copy of "Warm and Cool" there. It's a great album - well worth seeking out.

I've been trying to convince my band to cover "Days" for some time now. "Prove it" is a nice one too, but that's probably out of our league! Which songs did you do Dan?

RE: Television | from danMar 05 2001 - 12:48

Television have always been one of my favorites since Kirk Swan turned me on to them (a couple of past bands used to do television covers). The latest issue of Mojo has a nice article on them as well along with a couple of articles on other seminal bands from new york in the 70's. Very cool. I love everything about them. Meticulous yet not overworked studio records. Supposedly frenetic live shows in their day (blow up). Any other fans out there?

Anyone here a Television fan? They're one of my all time favorite bands. I just got word that they'll be playing the Noise Pop festival in Chicago this year with Suicide!
