Yeah, Debussy's 'Prélude à 'L'après-midi d'un faune' and the 'Sonata for flute, viola and harp' kick orchestral ass (w/ impressionistic delicacy and grace).

Oh God, how could I not include Debussy??? Just give me a complete works mega boxset and I'll happily spend the rest of my life listening on an island.

Not only good fun but I learnt an important lesson about line spacing... Sorry about that

RE: Desert isle albums (yes, I went there) | from Geoff with a GSep 14 2005 - 05:05

I've had a particuarly tedious morning so what better way to while away lunch than dribble through my cd collection (ran out of poker chips)...

Addendum | from CodreanuSep 14 2005 - 01:16

Almost forgot. The rules: ten albums you could not live without; no more than one STANDARD (i.e. NO: box sets; special items, e.g. Indonesian triple-album sets; budget multi-disc compilations; etc.) selection per artist/composer/band.

I know.. I know.. perhaps of all subjects and scenarios broached, on a message board devoted to music, THIS is the most clichéd and uninspired. But, admit it, fun in both individual compilation and the consideration, the appraisal given to others' lists'... not as fun as texas hold'em poker, mind you.

I begin:

01. Carissa's Wierd - "You Should be at Home Here"

02. Gustav Mahler - "Symphony No. 9" (Karajan)

03. Lisa Germano - "Lullaby for a Liquid Pig"

04. The Cure - "Disintegration"

05. Tom Waits - "Alice"

06. Red House Painters - "s/t" (rollercoaster)

07. Idaho - "Alas"

08. Soul Whirling Somewhere - "Hope Was"

09. The Black Heart Procession - "s/t"

10. American Music Club - "Everclear"
