...this is getting quite silly, as I still have everything from Hearts of Palm onward on continuous rotation through my speakers and headphones... Many years on...
To quote 'Office Space': "I celebrate the man's entire catalogue."
Hearts Of Palm,
Alas,
3 Sheets to the Wind,
The Lone Gunman,
Yhis way out,
year after year.
three sheets to the wind is the album that blew my mind the most. actually, it's the album that made me write to jeff and tell him how big a fan i was. got me to play on levitate with him, so that would have to be my second favorite.
Why is this board back?
Year After Year, This Way Out, We Were Young, People Like Us Should Be Stopped
I love Year After Year
comin'...
AWESOME. I'm glad it went smoothly. again, please let me know when the music is comin'. thanks.
green you ROCK. i've been listening to it all weekend..
(just figured you deserved a public shout out :)
Alas is still available at amazon.uk - I will have to import it too. Might get a little expensive, but not more than to get my hands on the Bayonet EP in Germany.
My favourite is Levitate. No doubt about that.
yeah
really?
hey I can help. yes no?
i am so sad. i still have not been able to locate Alas.
Alas is my favourite, then a tie between Levitate, Three sheets to the wind and Hearts of palm. After that Year after year then This way out.
a tie for first between Hearts of Palm and Three Sheets to the Wind, definitely...Levitate, Alas, This Way Out, Year After Year.
a tie between
Por Primera Vez, Pantsy? Obviously, you haven't MenudoMania!

tough call to make... hmmmm.
Alas; Levitate; Hearts of Palm; Year After Year; Three Sheets...; This Way Out.
Year After Year
My preference in order:
This Way Out
Year After Year
Hearts of Palm
3 Sheets
We Were Young & Needed the Money
Levitate
Alas
I think my list would be...
Alas
Levitate
Three Sheets To The Wind
This Way Out
Hearts of Palm
Year After Year
this is an impossible task, but here goes: my top idaho albums IN ORDER.
01. Alas; 02.) HOP; 03.) Levitate; 04.) 3 Sheets; 04.) This Way Out; 05.) We Were Young; 06.) YAY. I didn't consider the other EP's... not really sure why. maybe just to make it easier to decide???
In the kingdom of the dwarves, I say nay, no, absolutely nope.
nope
fireworks are also overrated.
Yikes. I don't know why, but I really think Alas is overrated, when compared to HOP or even Year After Year. I started with Idaho's first release- so dark and beautiful; and then the continuation on TWO....If I had to pick, It would probaby be TWO,,,though I love 3 sheets, too....You're right D, this is too hard.
You know I keep going back to "We were young and needed the money"
I know the title really puts down the songs but I dig it much.
TWO was the first album I've heard, but Three Sheets was the first album I bought (because it was the only album the record store had). that one brings a lot of memories with it.
HOP is great, but I didn't like it when I first heard it. it took a couple of months for me to appreciate it. I was still hooked on the sound of ALAS that when HOP came out, I didn't know what to think. same with Levitate. but that's what's cool about IDAHO to me; never the same thing twice.
Hearts of palm has to be respected... Such a crazy mood - if I feel like listening to it, I usually end up in a strange place afterward. Very powerful.
I think levitate is often overlooked, though - such a smooth, natural progression. New stuff is quite obviously going to be fantastic...
3 sheets was what hooked me, though - and it has also stood the test of time...
three sheets to the wind and this way out are my favorites. totally blows my bawlz into outer space.
gotta go with the sentimental favourite. This Way Out was my exposure to the band, and a revelation for me at the time...
"Alas" for sure. The entire thing just flows perfectly. I can't think of any weaknesses on the album, although a sprinkling of piano here and there would've been awesome. Mmmmmmmm...
ALAS is my favorite. it's deep and sullen, but there's a playful vibe to it. to me, it sounds like everyone who helped with the album was having a lot of fun. I don't know...it sounds to me like the songs wrote themselves. that's an album I don't want to do without.
all of them are great, though. Jeff Martin is an extremely creative guy. can't wait to hear the new stuff.
This is an impossible task..each is amazing and a favorite for different reasons. SOrry...I just can't do it. Too hard.
just to keep it real, i think it's a toss up between Alas and HOP for idaho's best albums. right now, maybe because i'm on such an Alas kick, i think Alas is their best album. "leaves upon the water" is just a great song. your thoughts???
