Aah: you'll have lots of fun. Dave is a great bloke and is very famous for looking after the acts he books.

The Tap'n'Tin in Chatham is a good poplar place to play.

Check out: www.tapntin.co.uk

Loads of popular bands are playing there at the mo.

The Hanbury ballroom in Kemptown Brighton. Old mausoleum, domed ceiling painted with indian motifs, good sound, great crew...
try the www.gildedpalaceofsin.com or www.meltingvinyl.co.uk local booking agents. Brighton rules people: you'll love it.

.. and apologies for my poor copying and pasting skills that made that post look like a confused mess.

Hey JB -

If youre looking for something in the East Midlands of England, I might be able to provide a few links for you. Below is some excerpts from an email I originally sent to Michel.

Basically, if youre thinking of a UK tour "the rescue rooms" in Nottingham is the only place worth stopping in the Midalnds - possibly Birmingham aside. It's become part of the tour circuit for most decent bands lately...

Enjoy !

---------------------------------

Leicester - probably about the 8 / 9 th biggest city in England ?

Leicester's gigs can be poorly attended unless your an established act. For example, I've seen artists like Black Heart Procession pull in around 80 punters, maximum.

The local venue - The Charlotte - is your best bet, and can be found here :
http://www.thecharlotte.co.uk/

The local promoter in Leicester - who books most alternative bands - is located here :
http://www.magic-teapot.co.uk/

... if you can pass yourselves off as Americana, you might be able to get a gig here :

Nottingham - one of the biggest cities in England, gigs are usually well attended.

Nottingham's been taken over by a promoter called Anton who has built up a booking empire from next to nothing. Good for him ! His two venues are The Rescue Rooms (bigger bands) and The Social (smaller bands) ( under the Night With No Name banner ). Both are good venues.

... the "Americana" booker in Nottingham is here :

Derby :

Best avoid Derby - Nottingham is very close and people will see gigs there instead. Plus, Derby is a dive :-) There's a pub called "The Vic" which sometimes books alternative bands. I dont have any further info on this.

RE: UK venues | from PSMay 09 2005 - 13:02

Have Idaho ever done any festivals here in the UK? It would surely be the ideal way of broadening your appeal and getting heard by people who wouldn't normally come to see you, but who would like you if they did....

RE: UK venues | from JBMay 09 2005 - 10:11

Hey there Brits ! Can anyone recommend some venues for my friend Michel?
Gardin is a great band and Idaho could use some venue info as well. I'm thinking a pub tour through the New Forest, maybe an outdoor music fest at the National Motor Museum in Beaulieu?

RE: UK venues | from Alex NiedtMay 04 2005 - 09:34

Gardin is fantastic. The song on the upcoming Something Must Break compilation is so good.

RE: UK venues | from JR OlssonMay 04 2005 - 09:28

Gardin is a really good band from The Netherlands. Give it a try at www.gardin-music.com

RE: UK venues | from BenMay 04 2005 - 08:27

Who the hell are you/Gardin?
