RE: aNDY | from Mr. WebsterApr 06 2005 - 04:12

It's not about being dumb or smart; it's about being a condom fetcher for Kozelek.

RE: aNDY | from Mr. McDoodlesApr 05 2005 - 21:34

naw, Mr. Acknowledgement.. i gotta side with Mr. Webster on this one. witty set-up or not, Whitesnake is crap. not having to consider the obvious hair-band horribleness, even trying to look at the song-writing, they suck. plain and simple. there's many bands throughout the years that i hate to death, but at least have to give them a nod as far as their actual musical gifts/skills. but Whitesnake sure a shell aint one of them.

eat poo.

RE: aNDY | from Mr. AcknowledgementApr 05 2005 - 19:19

OK, Mr Webster. we acknowledge you. you made a "saracastc and biting" comment anonymously on an internet message board. well done. you are smart. we are dumb. you have it figured out. we don't. we are sheep. you are not. picture gotten.

RE: aNDY | from Mr. WebsterApr 05 2005 - 18:04

I guess I really do have to state the obvious here: I just don't give a shit what Kozelek thinks about anything. The idea that I would change my opinion because he sees something I don't doesn't make any sense to me. Not that I don't think he's talented. I love some of his stuff. I just prefer to use my own brain. I'd like to see the list of "good" Whitesnake songs, though. I'm guessing "Is this Love" must be near the top. I love you Tawny.

RE: aNDY | from ronApr 05 2005 - 14:53

we've all written a crap song or two. some more than others. it's just that Denver's crap songs became more popular than all of ours. but just b/c he has a crap song or two doesn't mean that all of his stuff is crap... or somethin'...

RE: aNDY | from AndrewApr 05 2005 - 13:22

There's also an Elliot Smith song in 'The Girl Next Door.'

RE: aNDY | from Mr. WebsterApr 05 2005 - 09:58

Thanks Ross. Humbling. Truly humbling.

RE: aNDY | from RossApr 05 2005 - 08:36

Well, I've got me a fine wife /

I've got me a fiddle /

The sun's coming up /

I've got cakes on the griddle /

Life ain't nothing but a funny funny riddle /

Thank God I'm a country boy!

I was socialized by my parents to know those lyrics.

RE: aNDY | from Mr. WebsterApr 05 2005 - 01:34

Right again, Ron. I was socialized to misunderstand Mr. Denver's genius. Then I saw Oh, God and realized how wrong I was. "Rocky mountain high, Colorado. Rocky mountain high, Colorado..."

RE: aNDY | from Alex NiedtApr 04 2005 - 22:26

Speaking of Kozelek, I just watched "The Girl Next Door", and there were RHP and solo Kozelek songs used, as well as Mogwai and Josh Rouse. Not exactly what I'd expect from that movie. I actually didn't even notice the solo Kozelek song during the movie, but I saw it listed in the credits. It's called "Arrival". I'm no solo Kozelek fan, so I really don't know, but that wasn't on any of his normal albums, was it?

RE: aNDY | from ronApr 04 2005 - 18:48

you've all been socialized to not like john denver. john denver DOES have some good songs. i never understood why people made fun of him... other than "take me home country road."

RE: aNDY | from Mr. WebsterApr 04 2005 - 17:40

It is a fact. It pains me to have to say it, but I was being ironic in my last post.

RE: aNDY | from RossApr 04 2005 - 13:36

Whitesnake never had a good song. I think that's actually historical fact.

RE: aNDY | from cApr 04 2005 - 12:09

Kozelek also thought John Denver had some good tunes. I beg to differ, except for that kick-ass record he made with the Sesame Street characters.

RE: aNDY | from RossApr 04 2005 - 10:13

Nothing tops Whitesnake. If only because Coverdale chose to name his band after his prick.

Oooh, anyone Canadians out ther remember Slik Toxik? Oof. That's just awful.

RE: aNDY | from ronApr 03 2005 - 15:22

no problem. but don't thank me. thank The Koz... and david coverdale.

RE: aNDY | from Mr. WebsterApr 03 2005 - 06:19

The word according to Mark Kozelek. I'm going to change my opinion based on His pronouncement. Thanks, Ron.

RE: aNDY | from ronApr 02 2005 - 21:36

right on. it ranks up there with "unwritten law" and "cinderella" and "white snake." though, according to mark kozelek, white snake had some good songs.
