RE: Idaho -- Year After Year | from Jason EisertApr 05 2005 - 16:32

My first experience was Alas so I was used to the more electronic feel of Idaho by the time I heard YAY. I love every album for what they are but to this day still think Hearts of Palm is my all time favorite, then Levitate --- perhaps it's because these two albums were the soundtracks to some of my fondest memories.

Save, and Skyscrape are my favorites. it took me a while to get into this album though...like 3 years. I was so used to the sound of TWO and ALAS, that this one didn't grab me at first. it's a great album though.

My favorite. Heard "God's Green
Earth" in a record store in '93. Bought YAY and The Palms e.p. on the spot.

Love it, love it- definitely feel John Berry's influence here. God's Green Earth is just perfection captured. I remember the first time I heard that song-it set a new standard for me. I remember I gave Year After Year to a friend to listen to once, and I asked him for his assessment- one word: "terrifying". He later added, "...in the good way". sigh.
I also think the artwork is brilliant, although the art deco idaho font was never used again. I think Jeff hated the way it looked.

On amazon.com, there is a used copy of "Alas" for sale, but the price is $27.51 - pretty steep. But I would say it's worth it.

YAY is probably my favourite Idaho album, indeed it is timeless, and i listen to it whenever i feel a bit down, it always manages to pick me up...

Hi there Mike. I'm keen for the new TSAR album. You're right, YAY is a real pearler of an album. I might listen to it now.
