i got to see Lush on the Lollapalooza tour in '92. there were only 50 people out of the 20,000 capacity watching them open that show. then the place filled for Pearl Jam and then emptied again for Jesus&Mary Chain. it was a great show. during Ministry's set, Miki came out to play guitar on a song, as well as Kirk Hammett from Metallica, and half way through she decided to stage dive, well she slipped at the edge of the stage and dove head first into the steel barrier that security stands behind. it knocked her completely out. all we saw was her limp body being handed back up to road crew on the stage and rushed off. she talked about it a little in a Guitar World a few months later and needing stitches.

"I would never want to do that to you, I would never want to drive that fast...but you can get off wherever you like." -KOD -good stuff!

I first heard "Monochrome" playing in a record store, I think way back in the fall of 1991. It absolutely blew my mind - I had never heard music like that before. It was an epiphany to me. Needless to say I bought everything Lush ever released. "Spooky" is still my favorite record of theirs, but I love 'em all.

You know, this message board is really taking me back... first Catherine Wheel, now Lush... I'm reliving my adolescence.

Anyone remember Kitchens of Distinction? My god were they phenomenal...

The drummer, Chris Acland, killed himself in 1996 and therfore ended Lush.

what suicide?

RE: Lush | from CFFeb 17 2005 - 09:36

Love them- saw them a few times before the suicide-including a great show at Maxwell's in Hoboken (I've seen Idaho there twice, too)-great venue because it's so small. Lush encompasses all that is great in Shoegazer-dreamy voices over wall of sound distortions. Other great shoegazy bands? Ride, Chapterhouse, My Bloody Valentine...all great.
