Wind & Wuthering is one of my favorite records ever.
I don't think SDRE sounded like Rush at all, except for maybe their last album, which was pretty much just the fire theft.
(note: Jeremy Enigk's solo album is incredible.)
I haven't heard any rush there... but I have heard a bit of early Genesis "Wind and Wuthering".
And the new "Fire Theft" album sounds like YES.

a note on sunny day real estate: i guess i didn't notice it so much back in, what, 1995 or so, but there's a heavy influence of Rush on SDRE stuff. i think i didn't notice it at first b/c i wasn't much of a listener to Rush. not that i'm a huge fan of Rush... actually, they're one of the bands that tends to annoy me at times... but they're a great band... any one else notice the Rush influence?
I've noticed that the troll(s) only comes out every few weeks, then goes away. As soon as there's been about a week of good, productive discussion, it/they comes back again.
I just wanted to say that this message board has turned me on to some really great bands and really great records. It's been a fine means for me to discover new and interesting bands, upon recommendations from message board users. Even though the fighting and poo-pooing of message board users is increasingly popular, I still venture to the den of the cultured haters, because I have so benefited from the insight of many a cool person with killer taste in music.
I just thought it bore mentioning.
