RE: can and other krautrock | from mahaboneMar 10 2004 - 22:07

Since I brought this up and had a couple of knowlegeable responses, I was wondering if anyone possibly had a copy of an album called "Cluster 71" buy the group Cluster to beg, buy, borrow, or burn.

I'm willing to pay $. It's outta print and ME WANTEE!

Thanks.

Amon Duul 2 have a nice mixture of heavy psych rock and folk noodling on their early stuff, but you have to be really into that sort of thing to get into it. "Yeti" and "Wolf City" are both great.

NEU "75" is really good if you prefer the minimalist approach.

CAN's "Future Days" is probably their most listenable record. It's great driving music.

wow- cool tips. Appreciate it because no sooner had I gotten into a little Can and Popol Vuh than I began hearing about all these other bands...Guru Guru, Agitation Free, etc. The first 4 Can albums are pretty groovy but I have sort of mixed feelings for them. Some great tunes but at times overrun by an almost hippielike sense of free jams, some of which aren't too successful. Anyway, thanks.

Faust, absolutely. Their first album in particular is a mindfuck. One of my favorite bands (or collectives).

I like some Can too, but I think Neu, Amon Duul 2, and especially Guru Guru are way overrated. Stick with Faust.

Tangerine Dream and Nektar fit the category.

Hey- anyone here into Can, Faust, Neu, Amon Duul or any of those types of German space rock psychedelic bands from the late 60's to early 70s? I'm familiar with a couple of Can albums but I want to hear some of these others or at least hear something ABOUT them if anyone has some insight or collects this stuff.
