Yeah glueboo. Fuck songwriters. We need more stupid fucking garage bands. Thats what the world fucking needs.

Damien Rice is shit. But their are tons of great "songwriters" out there. Ever heard of Jeff Martin?

RE: Damien Rice | from gluebooOct 30 2003 - 17:20

Damien Rice = shite. Just what the world needs. ANOTHER fucking songwriter.

RE: Damien Rice | from KeithOct 30 2003 - 13:19

I thought some songs on his album were ok. All of it was basically strictly acoustic, no distortion, hardly any drums. The girl he has singing with him is really good though. He just seems kinda like the eptiome of the singer/songwriter genre to me: scruffy, "honest" lyrics, singing loud and with lots of embellishment = "emotional", and sounding cliche without sounding cliche.

RE: Damien Rice | from AlexOct 30 2003 - 12:23

Actually, I think he does.

RE: Damien Rice | from JR OlssonOct 30 2003 - 11:09

i would'nt know if he does that on record as well. if he is he should move to seattle and leave ireland behind.

does he really have THAT big of a crowd that he's able to try to get rid of a few?

RE: Damien Rice | from brianOct 30 2003 - 00:48

i'm always a supporter of artist's re-arranging songs or experimenting with songs live. is his record like that or more acoustic based (which it seems, with some drum loops)wonder if the success is getting to him? his way of wanting people to not pay so much attention?

RE: Damien Rice | from JR OlssonOct 29 2003 - 22:55

it was 50-50. when it was noisy it was noisy. just imagine how shitty it can sound with a distorted acoustic guitar.

RE: Damien Rice | from aliOct 29 2003 - 16:38

was he mainly loud and distoted or still mellow with it?, cos im taking my mum to see him in newcastle in february, thinking hed be gentle and mellow like on (most of ) the record

RE: Damien Rice | from JR OlssonOct 29 2003 - 15:19

i just got home from a concert with mr. rice. oh my holy god i was bored! i really don't like the way he's singing! and when he's doing the grunge thing (singning in a microphone with distortion) i just wanna puke. and he did that all fucking night long! and when he was done with his 12 songs and went of stage... then came back for for 6 (!) more songs. i have never been so bored. he played an acoustic guitar throughout the whole set. using distortion, wah-wah, echo etc. it really didn't sound good. the only good thing about this night was a lady named lisa who was singning along on most songs. she sang three of her own as well. if he becomes the sologuitarist in the damien rice band and lets her sing all the songs (WITHOUT DISTORTION) they could be pretty good.

He used to sing w/ Juniper. New record is w/ Vector(?) I believe. It's his 1st full-length. And Chris, my wife said the same thing about him. He can make a grown man weep like Jeff Buckley and Idaho could.

RE: Damien Rice | from DAug 21 2003 - 10:08

Oh Chris! They know things a little...

RE: Damien Rice | from BillAug 21 2003 - 04:58

Yes, he's Irish and has an album out called "O"

RE: Damien Rice | from brianAug 20 2003 - 23:41

seems everytime i turn on the tv and flip past VH1 the video for this song is on. i like the style of the video, B&W, live in studio take with acoustic guitar, vocals and cello. i like the song too, especially the woman who is singing with him. i don't know anything about him either. will go look now though.

I am a bit obsessed with this Volcano song by this guy-have you heard it? Reminds me of what Jeff Buckley would sound like after listening to a lot of RHP. Haven't heard of him before- I think he's Irish.
